Where It Began
In a small studio nestled in the heart of Portland, Oregon, Cholghshel was born from a simple belief: that the objects we surround ourselves with should be meaningful, beautiful, and made with care.
What started as a personal passion for handcrafted goods has grown into a community of makers and appreciators who value the slow, intentional process of creation.
Our Philosophy
We believe in the beauty of imperfection. Each piece we create carries the subtle marks of human hands—a slight variation in texture, a gentle asymmetry, a unique character that can only come from handcrafting.
Our materials are chosen with intention. We work with natural fibers, reclaimed wood, locally-sourced clay, and ethically-mined stones. Every material tells a story, and we honor that story in our work.
Time is not our enemy—it's our ally. We take as long as needed to create something truly special, something that will last for generations, not just seasons.
The Process
Every piece begins with an idea, often sparked by the natural world around us—the texture of bark, the curve of a river stone, the pattern of woven grass.
From there, we sketch, we plan, but we also allow room for spontaneity. The best creations often come from happy accidents, from moments when the material guides our hands.
We work in small batches, never rushing. Each piece is inspected, refined, and finished with the same care we'd give to a gift for a loved one.

2018 - The Beginning
Started as a small home studio, creating pieces for friends and family.
2020 - First Workshop
Moved into our first dedicated workshop space in Portland.
2022 - Community Growth
Expanded our team and began offering workshops to the community.

Continuing to create, inspire, and connect through handcrafted beauty.
